Our initiative has grown at an impressive rate in 2011, for example, have a look at the video clip of one of our activities in India with our fantastic Ambassador Divyanka Tripathi (Click here).

We are establishing a community that is growing every day and already has members from more than 150 countries, but this is only the beginning, we need you to spread our message of respect and conservation even further.

If you would like to become involved, do not hesitate to contact us, we have developed several tools (Books, posters, etc.) which enable us to act efficiently and concretely (Schools, communities, the Internet, different forms of media, etc.) without having to invest a lot of time in it.

A new year is often a period of good resolutions: what if you decide to help CyberDodo to do something to make tomorrow better than today?

Once again, a Happy New Year to you all!

With the aim of promoting the implementation and respect for the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (Which in our view, includes the need to preserve the planet so that we have a place where these rights can be exercised) and in partnership with important international organizations, such as the UN, the CyberDodo Global association created a series of edutainment tools targeting the various groups of members of the public (Children, families, institutions, organizations, etc.) and proposes facilitated access:

- Multimedia and multilingual websites for the 2 billion people who are connected

- Edupacks (Schools, institutions, etc.) for the 4 billion people who are not yet connected

Remember this saying:

‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.

Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime‘

Contrary to many of the usual timely interventions which fight against one abuse or defend one specific right (irrespective of whether this has to do with children’s rights or the environment), the CyberDodo initiative aims to inform, build awareness and educate children and their families on all of their rights and duties.

Therefore, to help them know and understand what these are so as to ensure that they are respected, with the concrete objective of contributing to the emergence of a global awareness which will bring about sustainable improvements to society, we can say the following:

‘If you defend a right, the situation will improve temporarily.

If you teach a child and his family about their rights and duties,

our world will improve forever’

Hot on the heels of the success of our first photo competition on the beauties of nature, we are organising a second one until 31 October on the theme “Water is vital !”.

This organisation, which is dedicated to street children, has made a huge effort to support them and help them to have access to medical care, education and even to a future in which they can develop their potential.

Thanks to our extraordinary Ambassador Divyanka Tripathi, I believe that that the children who attended had a wonderful time and are now aware of what the essential text of the Convention is all about.

Let’s take a look at the photos of this unforgettable time, firstly with the group of children in which your friend is featured a little…

There was a unique atmosphere and the applause was accompanied by shouts of laughter

These children had a depth and history in their eyes which needs no further comment – have a look at these 2 little girls.

Our approach was simple and concrete, informing them of the existence of this ‘contract’ between adults and children, then inviting them to sign it with their own hands, which they did with overwhelming joy.

The presentation ended with a meal for the children at the Foundation, but our day did not end there – after that we went with one of the Foundation’s social workers to the Mumbai Central Station to meet the children that live and work there.

There is no doubt that our lifestyle (Growth of the population, pollution, hyperconsumption, etc.) is making more and more species disappear every year.

Indeed, life is a subtle balance between countless elements which are all equally important. For example, it may mean nothing to many of our peers if a plant they have never heard about disappears in the Amazon.

But what if this plant were to contain medical components which could help cure cancer?

The purpose of providing this example is to emphasise the need to preserve biodiversity, for us and for future generations.

To contribute to this awareness, our team has developed a game consisting of several levels which is a race against the clock. The maximum number of species must be saved in the minimum amount of time, which is a precise reflection of the current situation on our planet!

As always, the launching of this game is accompanied by a tournament which shall end on 3 July.

Allow us to conclude by congratulating schools which are increasingly using our information resources (cartoons, games, case files, quizzes etc.) to raise awareness among students (and their parents) on the Defence of Life in all its forms.

This is precisely CyberDodo’s mission, to create a global community so that tomorrow can be better than today…

When a major accident occurs, it is important for people to be informed, particularly if they live close to the area. Many of us remember what happened in Chernobyl in 1986, when we were reassured instead of being told the truth and the exact extent of the disaster, which was only known a couple of months later.

After 11 March and the terrible earthquake and tsunami which shook Japan, the Fukushima plant shows us that nothing has really changed in 25 years!

In reality, information is not being passed on to us on time. In the beginning, they tried to assure us that the technicians were in control of the situation at the reactors until we saw images on TV of an explosion, after the continued degradation of facilities had been announced little by little, in order to give us time to get used to it.

At the end of May, TEPCO (the operator of the plant) officially acknowledged that there was a meltdown at reactors 1, 2 and 3 and that the marine ecosystem was affected by the discharge of contaminated water into the Pacific Ocean!

Almost 3 months after the disaster, it has not even featured on the front page of newspapers, an extraordinary and worrying demonstration of the capacity of the nuclear industry to control the spread of information. What a pity that at Chernobyl and Fukushima, they have not been able to control the spread of radioactivity …

So, in order to help us not to forget the dangers of atomic energy, www.CyberDodo.org is organising a new tournament until 19 June.

We are relying on you to talk to your children, your family, your friends, your children teachers, etc, so that the consequences of nuclear disasters are no longer measured in years, but in centuries and millennia.

Smoking is a totally avoidable scourge, but surprisingly more than 5 million human beings will not be able to avoid it and consequently will die in 2011.

If you are not a smoker, this is very good for you, although this does not mean that you are protected from the effects of tobacco, because perhaps there may be smokers around you.

Do not be fooled into believing that this is not serious, because in 2011, 150,000 children will also die as a result of passive smoking.

To mark the importance of the war against tobacco, the CyberDodo team is organising a video game tournament until 5 June, and the winner is set to receive a Sony PSP.

Your site is organising a tournament on abandoned animals until 22 May.

In our hyper-consumer society, many of our contemporaries consider their pets to be objects that can be thrown away when they are no longer of interest to them, it is therefore important to emphasise that this type of behaviour is abnormal and cruel.

Because cruelty towards animals is the first, if not the worst, stage of lack of respect towards human beings…

Talk about this tournament to your children, your friends, your family, your children’s teachers, etc. By playing, they will realise that respect is a fundamental concept which should be applied everywhere. They will also have access to a cartoon, a case file and a quiz to inform them about this subject.

While 2010 celebrated biodiversity, 2011 is all about forests and we must absolutely stop destroying them. We are therefore taking advantage of the numerous requests received from our members to organise a new tournament based on the Monkeys game (back by popular demand!) which will help remind us that forests are one of humanity’s most precious assets.

Forests, particularly indigenous ones, are reservoirs of biodiversity as well as the lungs of the planet – and their inhabitants are today at risk of simply disappearing off the face of the planet!

We are relying on you to help build awareness among your children, your family, your children’s teachers, etc, and tell them to take advantage of the various edutainment tools which are freely accessible on our site to learn while entertaining themselves.

This is how we can all contribute to the conservation of our beautiful planet…

Up until 24 April, your site is organising a tournament with the theme of disabled persons so that each one of us understands that we can and above all must do everything to ensure that disabled persons benefit from the same rights as able-bodied persons.

Francoise Dolto, a French doctor, summarised this beautifully when she said: ‘The greatest asset of all human groups lies in their communication, cooperation and solidarity around a common goal: the welfare of each individual while respecting differences’.

This is the exact goal of the global communication tool, ‘CyberDodo, the Defender of Life’.

Talk to your children, friends, family, children’s teachers, etc. about this tournament. As they play, they will travel from Africa to Asia, from America to Europe, and will also come to realise that disabled children everywhere face the same challenge: that of being fully accepted by society.

We can help them, we must help them!
